Did you know the Country Doctor Museum installs temporary exhibits around the region? A fascinating display based on our Sick Room exhibit is currently on view at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. A long hallway linking the medical school with Vidant Medical Center has 9 display cases filled with treasures from the museum’s collection, as well as private pieces on loan. The installation about Victorian era health practices features cases on baby care, passing time in the sick room, women’s health, invalid feeders and a formaldehyde generator for sanitizing the air. Other off-site exhibits are located at ECU’s Family Medicine Center and Wake Tech’s Perry Health Sciences Campus in Raleigh. We appreciate the opportunity to share our collection with new audiences who might not otherwise have a chance to come to the museum in Bailey.
